Dolphyn Technology will Drive Hydrogen Production on Celtic Sea site
Source Galileo is happy to announce that we have entered into an agreement with ERM Dolphyn (now Dolphyn Hydrogen) to use the Dolphyn technology in the production of large-scale, low-carbon green hydrogen from floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea. It is expected that the hydrogen will arrive directly to land through a dedicated pipeline.
The Source Galileo team intends to apply the Dolphyn technology to the 300MW Dylan Offshore Wind Farm. Dylan is expected to begin operations in 2028, with expansion to GW scale in the 2030’s.
Supporting transformative technologies and production
In addition to using the Dolphyn technology on the Dylan project, Source Galileo are also exploring the opportunity to develop the Myrddin Offshore Wind Farm, which lies to the south of Dylan, in a similar phased approach. This will create a GW scale wind farm that will generate green hydrogen using the Dolphyn technology.
ERM Dolphyn and the proposals for offshore hydrogen generation in the Celtic Sea are supported by the Welsh Government Smart Living Initiative, as part of its commitment to the national hydrogen economy and are aligned with the objectives of the Wales Hydrogen Pathway (December 2020) to drive transformative technologies and production. The support for hydrogen production-at-scale is part of the policy framework of Net Zero Wales, the Welsh Government’s second carbon budget (2021-2025).
